I took this picture on April 3. It was the first day of our Spring Break. We got about four inches in three or four hours of non-stop snowing. By the end of the day the roads were just wet, but the grass was still mostly covered. It took a couple of warmer days and some rain later this month to have it all disappear. So rejoice, those of you in warmer climates, we are still having winter. Send us some of your sunshine!
Hello to All,

The final activity in our March Reading Madness was to create a float after a book we had read. The class chose to do Charlotte's Web. With the help of a wonderful PTO mom they all helped build Wilbur and Templeton out of paper mache'. They also made three large webs with the words SOME PIG, TERRIFIC, and RADIANT in the center. We put the characters in a wagon to look like Mr. Zuckerman's truck, and Charlotte and Templeton were put inside the crate to hide as they all went to the fair. The children in the class all dressed up as characters from the book.

All the classes in the building went from room to room to see the different floats. They were all pretty awesome, so we felt really pleased when we won the First Place Award. The picture to the right is one of my students who dressed up like Templeton. Pretty cool!

Our float is now on display at the Madison County Library along with several others. There was a Little Engine That Could, a tall Sideways Stories from Wayside School, Frog and Toad Are Friends, and The Secret Garden. It was a lot of work, but the children really enjoyed it. I think they were more excited than at Halloween. Especially when we won a prize.

This week has been very busy! On Tuesday we celebrated St. Patrick's Day. I wore my Mickey Mouse Ears that I got from Disneyland when we went for Jennifer's 40th birthday. We had a leprechaun in our room that was up to mischief. But we had an official "Catch a Leprechaun Warning Light" that let us know if one was in our room. One day he left so fast that he lost his hat and we hid it. We told him if he wanted it back, he had to give us a treat. He left us leprechaun's hiding all over the room and we had to find them all before he would give us the treat. We were very clever, too. We found all the leprechauns and then we set a trap with his hat in it. When he would go to get his hat, we would catch him! Alas, he got away with his hat, but he did leave us a treat of gold and a little leprechaun character to take his place. We then had an "Itsy, Bitsy, Teeny, Greeny Party" where everyone brought something small and green to eat. Yum! Yum!

We have been having March Reading Madness this month and one of the activities two weeks ago was to dress like a character from a Dr. Seuss book. I dressed up like Gerald McGrew from If I Had a Zoo, but I did not get a picture. Today we were to dress up as a character from a favorite book. I dressed up as the Sorting Hat from Harry Potter. Because I was being evaluated by my principal during the day, I didn't always wear my hat. Someone thought I was a chocolate candy bar! Since I love chocolate that wasn't such a bad idea.

I am looking forward to a nice weekend at home. Two weeks ago I went to visit Aiden (Bryce and Stacey just happened to be there) in his new stomping grounds. He has a lot of space to play in. Last weekend I went to spend some time with Megan and we had fun eating out, working on her portfolio and going shopping.

This is a picture of my classroom, my home away from home. Actually, I spend more time here than at home. It is a fun, warm room and I like it a lot.

This is quite an experience, getting myself technological! Knowing me it will take me a few tries to understand what I am supposed to be doing and how to make it work. In the end, I hope I will have a fun place for my children and grandchildren to visit to get to know their Mormor (grandmother in Danish) better.
